What are Hair Oils?

Hair oils are oils that help you maintain the wonderful condition of your hair.

They can be applied before going to the shower, before going out or right before sleeping.

Types of Hair Oils

Thinning of your hair is a problem that lowers your self-esteem. There is just a certain spot on your head that looks to be balding. Thus, hair oils are here to rescue your thin hair dilemma.

There is a certain shine-enhancing oil for different kinds of hair. So here is a list of hair oils and what hair type are they good for.

  • Argan Oil

This oil is best if you have dry and frizzy hair.

Argan oil is originated in Morocco and was hailed as liquid gold. This contains fatty acids and vitamin E that turns your dry, and unruly hair into softer, smoother and more manageable while getting rid of frizz and fly-aways at the same time.

  • Macadamia oil.

This is best for you if your hair is extremely dry and damaged. Macadamia Oil is one of the nut oils that are most intensive and is one of the richest available.

Use it on very dry or damaged hair as a weekly mask, or to replenish your tresses after a series of heavy heat styling sessions.

  • Kalahari Melon Seed Oil.

If you do have sensitive skin, then this oil is best recommended.

If you suffer from dermatitis, psoriasis or often have itchy reactions to beauty products, this is the shine-boosting hair oil for you. Kalahari Melon Seed Oil is high in omega-6 and fatty acids that is known to boost hair growth.

It is an excellent reparative oil and contains protein and vitamins C, B2 and G. Kalahari Melon Seed Oil is known to be particularly gentle on sensitive skin and scalps.

  • Almond oil

Dandruff is just as exasperating as a fly flying above your food. “Ew-ing” is just a normal reaction but worry no more!

Almond oil is the solution to stop your dandruff problems.

It is a lighter nut oil that is jam-packed with antioxidants, vitamin E, fatty acids and proteins. Along with these, it is also high in magnesium that boosts hair growth and lessens your hair breakage.

On the other hand, it can also stop the irritation, redness and inflammation of your scalp by massaging it on to your hair whenever you wash.

  • Baobab oil

This fairly new to the British hair market is plenty of hype surrounding it and its high vitamin content.

Along with the essential fatty acids needed for deep hydration and nourishment, Baobab oil is packed with vitamins A, D, E, and F, which all combine to improve the elasticity of your locks, and encourage cell regeneration.

You read it right, it can actually help your hair grow faster!

  • Marula oil.

If you detest the nutty scent of oils like argan and macadamia, marula makes the sweeter alternative. Full of Vitamin C, it is good for all hair types.

  • Abyssinian oil.
  • Good for fine hair, Abyssinian oil is also known as organic crambe seed oil. It is intensely hydrating and extremely light in weight and texture.

This is a brilliant option for thin, fine or greasy hair that can simply become lank if overloaded.

The molecular structure of abyssinian oil also makes it one of the most heat resistant oils, and so perfect to use as a pre-heat styling product.

    • Coconut oil.

Coconut oil is best for all hair types.

This oil is known as the ultimate multi-tasker oil that replenishes your hair strands and keeps your scalp as healthy as you can ever imagine.

Full of carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals, coconut oil can help shape stronger strands too, making it a great treatment for hair prone to breakage and slow growth.

How to Effectively Use Hair Oils

Now that you’ve been introduced to a couple of hair oils, it’s time for you to know the ways on how to properly use them.

Here are 10 ways on how to use hair oils properly and effectively:

    1. Use it as a pre-shampoo treatment.

With all the things that you do to your hair, it is not new that your hair gets tired after a long day, which make your strands feeling dry and dead.

Using oil as a pre-shampoo treatment helps your hair feel moisturized. By doing this, you maintain the natural oils in your hair.

To do so, simply apply hair oil before washing and using conditioner.

    2.) Use it as a light-weight shine.

Having a fine hair, it is just easy to go overboard with styling and styling products.

Unfortunately, hair styling causes your hair to weigh down and make it appear like it lacks oil and nourishment. Instead of putting on product over another, using lightweight hair oil can actually add gleam and luster.

In using oils for lightweight shine, apply a dime-sized amount. Focus on the ends and stay away from the roots.

    3.)          Use it as a home-spa treatment

Going to a salon to get a gorgeously looking hair is a hassle and time consuming.

Stop worrying and start using hair oils as spa treatment – at home! You can use hair oils to recreate a spa-treatment experience and here is how to do it:

    • Apply hair oil from root to tip.

    • Wrap your hair in a towel.

    • Leave the hair oil on for 30 minutes

    • Rinse out with cool water

4.)          Use it on wet hair before blow-drying

Hair oils protect your hair from heat.

Apply a dime-sized amount, along with a heat protectant, to damp hair after shampooing and conditioning. Then, your hair is ready for blow-drying!

5.)          Use it to tame frizz and flyaways

Does your hair poof up as soon as you set foot on your front door?

Don’t cry because you are never alone. Bad hair day caused by frizz follows you from time to time. If you want these unwanted frizz and dry hair gone out of your life, hair oil is the solution.

Apply two pumps on to your dry hair to smoothen the flyaways.

6.) Use it before creating a braid

Let’s admit it, braids are one of those hairstyles that makes you feel the prettiest and the cutest.

However, after a whole day of wearing braids, your hair feels tired and messy. Prior to braiding, put a small amount of hair oil so all the styling options are yours to choose.

7.) Use it to protect your hair against split ends

Although it is common knowledge that cutting the ends of your hair is the best way to get rid of split ends, you do not have to sacrifice the length of your hair to bring back your healthy and damage-free hair.

Using hair oil as part of your hair care routine can stop the split ends without trimming down your hair.

    8.) Use it before bed

Be better than Aurora and become the new sleeping beauty by applying hair oil before going to bed.

Throw your hair into a top knot and use a silk pillowcase to further up your beauty sleep game.

9.) Use it to detangle curly hair

Do you have curly and wavy hair?

Today is the perfect time to start! Right after applying shampoo and conditioner, apply a few drops of hair oil onto your hair.

Do not use narrow tooth comb because it will stretch your hair causing hair fall.

10.) Use it whenever your hair needs to be extra

Regardless of your hair type and texture, hair oil can help you recuperate the appearance of your hair whenever essential.
